The Dietitian

Michael Goldstone, MCSP MHCPC

Physio

Michael has 12 years experience as a physiotherapist having qualified at Manchester Metropolitan University in 2011. He previously worked in the animal health industry but decided to retrain as a physio when a passion was ignited by some life changing treatment he received from a physiotherapist for a debilitating problem he had with his back. Michael worked in a private hospital environment at The Alexandra in Cheadle, initially on the wards with a mixture of orthopaedic, respiratory, cardiac and neurological patients, and then went on to work in the outpatient department gaining much invaluable experience in treating acute musculoskeletal and post-orthopaedic patients. He then moved into a private clinic setting, working for CTC Healthcare where he furthered his musculoskeletal experience as well as having the opportunity to work in an occupational health setting for major companies including Bentley Motors, Michelin and East Cheshire Council. After returning to The Alexandra Hospital outpatients department for two years, Michael then began working for Annette Turner Hydrotherapy in Wilmslow in 2017 and is still working in the pool there for two half days per week. At the same time he set up his own physiotherapy service 'MG Physiotherapy', providing mobile therapy in patients' homes. This has grown into a small team of physiotherapists, a pilates instructor and a personal trainer. There are also associations with an Occupational Therapist, a Massage Therapist and with Rebecca as the recommended Dietician. This year Michael has added a new service 'Prehab Matters' alongside MG Physiotherapy. Prehab Matters focuses specifically on preparing patients both physically and mentally for surgery, which is shown to improve patients' experience of surgery and their post-op and long-term outcomes. Michael and his team are focussed on providing patient centred care, individualising their approach to each patient to ensure they receive treatment that is best suited to them so they can work towards their therapy goals in a realistic way and at a pace they are comfortable with. They work with all types of rehab patients from sports injuries to trauma and orthopaedics to elderly care and neuro. They also have associations with specialist physiotherapists they can refer onto if needed for women's health and complex neurological cases.

Rebecca Latham, RD MSc BSc

Registered Dietitian

Rebecca is a passionate and empathic dietitian specialising in disordered eating and eating disorders. She is dedicated to helping individuals develop a positive relationship with food and their bodies. Rebecca was educated at University College London (UCL), where she deepened her understanding of the complex interplay between nutrition, mental health, and eating disorders. Building upon this knowledge, she embarked on a career in the National Health Service (NHS), where she works with a diverse range of individuals with varying eating disorders. Rebecca has also worked for The Priory, a renowned institution known for its expertise in mental health treatment. This invaluable experience further enhanced her ability to provide comprehensive and compassionate care to those in need. Rebecca’s time at these esteemed institutions has taught her the importance of a multidisciplinary approach, working alongside therapists, psychologists, and medical professionals to ensure holistic care. Every patient Rebecca has treated has presented differently, requiring an individualised approach. This is why Rebecca tailors each nutrition treatment plan accordingly. Rebecca believes everyone is unique, bodies and minds differ greatly so why should treatment plans be the same. Rebecca’s approach is to work collaboratively with individuals to explore what works for them and to facilitate a safe space for exploration. After working together, she hopes individuals will be confident and flexible around food.
